Sharing Essays
You can share Common App personal statements, college-specific supplemental essays, and UC personal insight questions.
Yes, only share essays for schools where you were accepted.
You can choose to display just your first name and last initial.
We disabled the ability to copy text from the rendered web page and also obfuscate the text in the source code.
Most schools subscribe to plagiarism-detection services, which have access to all essays ever submitted to their member institutions. Applicants submitting copied material will be flagged and risk being denied admission for plagiarism.
Reviewing Essays
No, reviewing essays is completely optional
Yes, you will receive an email and be asked to accept or decline any request you receive.
After you accept a review request, you will receive a link to access a Google doc with the essay draft. Suggest in-line edits, add comments in the margin, and provide overall feedback at the end. We compiled a list of resources with essay writing best practices to guide you.
The standard turnaround time is 7 days. You can also offer expedited turnaround times for an additional fee.
Yes, you get to set your own prices to reflect your experience as a writing tutor. We do, however, ask that you price fairly and reasonably in keeping with our mission of providing affordable and accessible guidance. We also cap the rate for the first review to allow reviewers to get a feel for the process and the time it takes to complete a review.
Payment is currently handled off-platform directly between you and the requester. You can use your method of choice (e.g. Venmo, PayPal) and request that payment be made (in part or in full) before you start the review. We plan to bring payments onto the platform in the near future.
